Oral and Maxillofacial Annual Meeting

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker will be Former Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell speaking on “Leadership: Taking Charge,” on Oct. 10. Drawing on examples garnered from his experience as a leader on the world stage and an eyewitness to leadership in action, Powell will illustrate precisely what it takes for the role, providing strategies for “taking charge” during times of great change and great crises. Powell will demonstrate how to remain focused, take responsibility and work toward improving processes, organizations and people.

The Main Social Event honoring President Dr. Brett Ferguson and his wife, Rita, will be celebrated at the Art Institute of Chicago. This event, held at one of the largest art museums in the country, will feature live music, food and famous works of art.

The 100th Annual Meeting will introduce attendees to a new educational platform made up of nine clinical tracks. Each track will feature a large plenary session during which renowned speakers will lead attendees through the latest evidence-based research. Then each plenary session will split into five repeating breakout sessions to allow for greater topic immersion.

Track topics, based on the OMS scope of practice, include: Cosmetic and orthognathic surgery; Anesthesia; Pediatrics and cleft; Dental implants; Dentoalveolar; Head and neck oncology; Reconstruction; Trauma; and Temporomandibular joint.
