NPR has called the Milk Carton Kids “Gillian Welch and David Rawlings meet Simon and Garfunkel with a splash of the Everly Brothers.” The duo (are you ready for this?) released their first two albums for free.
“There’s a hole in Daddy’s arm where all the money goes, and Jesus Christ died for nothing, I suppose.” From John Prine’s early hit song “Sam Stone.”
John Prine and the late Steve Goodman (“City of New Orleans”) broke into the folk music scene at the same time. Count Bob Dylan as one of Prine’s biggest fans.
